While a classic, bone-dry Martini will never go out of style, I’m admittedly partial to its brinier cousin. A Dirty Martini is the perfect palate-opening drink to start off the night, and with just three ingredients, it’s also incredibly easy to make. Plus, if you’re hosting a big group, it’s the perfect cocktail to batch ahead of time.

The only problem? Fishing slippery olives out of their juice to garnish with can feel like a fool’s errand — they always seem to evade my fork-spearing attempts as they bob around in their juice. So when this hourglass-shaped solution popped up on my TikTok feed, I couldn’t add it to my cart fast enough.

This little tool immediately alleviates any problem I’ve ever had with getting olives out of their jar. Featuring two compartments — one large and one small — the gadget can store my olives in their brine like any other jar. However, once I flip it over, all the brine filters out, and I’m left with a bowl of snack-ready olives.

The great thing about this jar’s design is that it opens from both ends, so you can access either compartment at any time. Remove the large section’s cap to access the dry ingredients, or remove the bottom cap before flipping it over to measure out the oil or juice — this tool ensures you won’t end up with a rogue pickle in your jigger. It also features a non-slip silicone material on both sides, so it doesn’t spill while I’m working.

Dirty Martinis are as trendy as ever (even Dua Lipa’s on board), and this gadget makes batching them easier than ever. But if you’re not a fan of Dirty Martinis, it’s also great for pickle-lovers who love snacking straight from the jar, or for people who like capers with their bagels. I’ve also found it useful when cooking with oil-based jarred foods like sundried tomatoes and giardiniera.

With over 1,000 five-star ratings at Amazon, shoppers say this jar keeps their food fresh and their kitchens free of drips. While several shoppers swear by its leakproof capabilities and love that it’s dishwasher safe, others, like this happy shopper, say it cuts down on their household’s food waste: “My family actually finishes the pickles instead of leaving the last two in the jar,” they wrote.

Whether you’re hoping to up your cocktail game or can’t stop crunching on cornichons, this $18 tool is bound to save you time and make snacking more fun. And right now, you can get it for 45% off at Amazon, if you’re a Prime member.
