A Pizookie Is Exactly What It Sounds Like (and So Much More)

What's your biggest complaint about breakfast cereal? If you answered "It's not served in in cookie cake form often enough," then the California-based brewpub and pizza chain BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse has got you covered.

BJ's is known for its pizza-cookie hybrid dessert known as the Pizookie—which in its purest form is a large cookie served in a deep-dish pizza pan and topped with ice cream. From there, these Pizookies come in plenty of variations be it the Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Pizookie or the "hey-that's-not-a-cookie" Hot Fudge Brownie Pizookie. Now, starting this month, Pizookies are getting an entirely new spin: breakfast cereal-themed versions.

First out of the gate, released yesterday in honor of National Cereal Day, is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Pizookie—a sugar cookie base topped with vanilla ice cream and then covered in real Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal…with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon for good measure.

This Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Pizookie will only be around for a limited time, but if you miss it, don't worry: There'll be more iterations coming. "At BJ's, we are always innovating new product offerings to add a little more fun to our menu and the dining experience we deliver," Kevin Mayer, BJ's EVP, Chief Marketing Officer, said in the announcement. "The Pizookie dessert is so iconic for our guests and adding this cereal twist will deliver some nostalgia to their favorite childhood cereal. The launch of our new cereal Pizookie is just the first of many that we will debut in 2019!"

This cinnamon-spiked Pizookie typically sells for about $7.50. But if you have ethical concerns about paying more than $3 for a cookie, BJ's has you covered on that one as well. Participating locations offer a $3 Pizookie Daily Brewhouse Special every Tuesday—which, of course, is the best day of the week to combine cookies and pizza according to, I dunno, science, maybe?
