Cooking up weekend brunch ourselves has become something of a tradition for my group of neighborhood friends. After finally rolling out of bed on Sunday mornings, we each gather whatever breakfast items and ingredients we have lying around and take turns hosting.

A few months ago, I began to tire of scrambles and fruit salads. To shake things up, I added a new tool to my kitchen, and every weekend since, it has stolen the show. Not only do I swear by this crepe maker for brunch and more, but if you want one of your own, there's good news: Right now it's 40% off at Amazon.

G&M’s nonstick crepe maker churns out thin, slightly crispy pancakes in a flash, making it a great addition to group gatherings. The machine plugs into any outlet and heats up in minutes — just wait for the indicator light to shut off, and you’re ready to start pouring your batter.

When it’s not my weekend to host, I even bring the surprisingly portable machine with me on-the-go. Its power cord is retractable, and it’s thin enough to throw in most tote bags. The first time I whipped it out, my friends were understandably skeptical. “Aren’t crepes messy and difficult to make?” one even asked. But once they saw how simple (and fun) it was to make personalized breakfasts, they began demanding I bring it along each week.

It’s so simple to use. On a typical pan or griddle, it’s easy to pour too little or too much batter, creating accidental holes or thick, uneven spots. Thankfully, this crepe maker comes with a wooden spreading accessory that smooths out lumps and makes me feel like a true pro, plus a spatula for easy flipping.

I don’t have the most delicate touch, so I’ve somehow managed to tear and rip crepes while attempting to spread batter. To avoid that, I noticed that the base of the machine is safe to touch and light enough to easily pick up, so I prefer to tilt the crepe maker to evenly distribute batter across the 12-inch surface. Whether you opt for the spreader or my method, you’re almost guaranteed perfectly even, restaurant-quality crepes every time.

Whether we’re feeling sweet or savory, creative or simple, there’s a crepe for almost every mood. Best of all, the machine is incredibly versatile for breakfast and beyond. On those rare mornings when we’re not in the mood for crepes, we’ve found that the hot griddle is also great for cooking up fried eggs, hot sandwiches, and French toast.

While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with classic breakfast fare, adding crepes to your morning lineup is a surefire way to add an upscale feel to your gathering. Fire up this griddle at your next brunch, and prepare for the compliments (and requests for seconds) to roll in.
